Who even looks at the price tag?

Who even looks at the price tag- what an introductory question to ask. No, hello my name is Sigourney, or let’s practice an IceBreaker; nope straight to the point. Welcome back to the blog everyone! Thanks for tuning in to read this blurb about fashion- oh how long it’s been since I last wrote about fashion and wearable trends/styles. Well- here it is, some of the most coveted details lie ahead in this blog post, so if you’re interested in learning ways to avoid the price tag and indulge in selective savings with E-commerce sites that offer you the best deals on high-end products/items read more! Before you know it, you’ll find yourself casually asking: ‘Who even looks at the price tag?’

So, before I share with you all my holy grail fashion site knowledge on ‘lifesaving’ (I’m known to be dramatic at times, lol) deals and trends, I first have to share this funny story of how ‘Who even looks at the price tag?’ became relevant to me. Shall we take a walk down memory lane for a moment? It all started late middle school/early high school. By this time, I sort of had my own style put together though it was still in the construction phase. Previously, my Mom would shop at stores like Bloomingdales and Saks to purchase my clothing so rarely did I get to wear the popular brands like Abercrombie & Fitch or Aeropostale. As you can imagine, not wearing these brands during middle/high school in the early 2010s was noticeable. #haha!

After some time, this distinction in clothing choice would garner the attention and jovial gestures of my friends. Let’s just say the Steve Jobs turtlenecks (which I am a sucker for) and blazer jackets (which I actually did wear in middle/high school) played a role in this. Jokingly they would say “Who even looks at the price tag?” as a way to mimic my wardrobe content. Lol! Funny how things turn out, and fashion evolves. Now, I wear more popular brands, needless to say; but then again my Mom still helps me to pick out my clothes sometimes….. lol. #getyourlifesig

Inspired by the need to keep a budget for practically everything (social life, books, shopping, miscellaneous, etc.), I have consequently found ways to avoid looking at the price tag by seeking better, more advantageous deals on clothing, experiences, spas- the whole gamut. Luckily, these shopping sites make it so much easier and less painstaking to shop for your wardrobe and/or instagram post. #imnotjudginglol Ready to dive deep? Let’s go!

  1. Rue-La-La

This online department store, helps you save so much on trendy styles and common brands- all you have to do is sign up for their newsletter and immediately you will be added to their subscriber registry. This allows you to receive ongoing emails about new sales on hot items for this and upcoming seasons.

But it doesn’t just stop at fashion, they also offer selective deals on wine & spirits, beauty care products, bedding and sheet necessities and lastly, kitchen and outdoor materials. Literally, this site is your one stop where you can shop everything- your own little department store and it comes with a nice interior!

  1. Beyond the Rack

Second on my list is a site that I’ve used and referred to for high-end stylistic options since 2011. While the site offers less brands than it once did, it’s still pretty helpful to learn about trendy styles, while simultaneously stumbling upon items you didn’t think you needed (funny how that happens, right? lol).

Similar to Rue-La-La, you want to make sure you sign up for the Beyond The Rack email newsletter, so you can receive updated accounts of sales and typically-expensive items marked down. You definitely want to take advantage of this site. The only downside is if you’re a newcomer, you won’t be able to preview their merchandise until you’ve signed up for their registry. Other than that, it’s totally worth the subscription!

  1. Shoptagr

Can we all make some noise for this wholly-grail site! Shoptagr is literally one of the best, more efficient chrome extensions and apps that I have on my mobile device and laptop. This website has helped me SO MUCH with saving money on products- literally anything you’d like to get your hands on- this site has it!

Say for example, an expensive Balenciaga blouse is out of your price range. Simply, sign up for Shoptagr, add the chrome extension to your Chrome Web Browser and lastly, add the app to your mobile device. Once these additions have been made, you can rest assured, you’ll get the best price for that blouse, once you’ve added it to your shopping category on Shoptagr. Shoptagr will not only save that item in your account, but will notify you when it either goes on sale, has been marked down and/or is no longer available. Literally your own portable shopping assistant right in your pocket.

I started using Shoptagr in 2016 and haven’t looked back since. This is hands down one of my favs and most used sources of fashion tracking and ensuring that I don’t have to look at the price tag- Shoptagr will do it for me, lol! If you decide to take only two suggestions away from this post, it’s this one and the next to come (which means you have to read more, lol #marketing)

  1. Lastly, drum roll please….. GILT

This site here is also one of the favorites! Ahhhh, I’m gushing. GILT is an online shopping and lifestyle website based in the U.S. It was started in 2007 and eventually sold to the Hudson’s Bay Company (parent company of Lord & Taylor and Saks). From clothing to shoes, to beauty spas and restaurant cravings, this site attacks you from all sides. It knows exactly what’s on your mind and helps you achieve your shopping goals by offering incomparable deals and markdowns on lifestyle experiences and wardrobe necessities. When simplified, consider this site the Luxury Groupon. And when I say, luxury, I’m talking about Oscar De La Renta, YSL, Tom Ford, Burberry, David Yurman, Hermès, Rolex, and so much more!

The range of luxury is out of this world and only GILT can truly take the crown for having such a diversified selection of items and brands. Even if your price range is not too kosher for purchasing a Chanel bag, or even a pair of Bottega Veneta sandals, other options are offered, including but not limited to, Adidas, Kenneth Cole, Betsey Johnson, Birkenstock, Superga and many others.

It’s like you’re in a room where Chopard is sharing a bottle of White Zinfandel with Steve Madden and in walks Celine, Vera Wang and Tommy Hilfiger to join the conversation. That diversification can’t be found just anywhere. If 1 plus 1 equals 2, then Shoptagr + GILT= Fashion Heaven, ah! Lol, seriously.

Go to GILT.com, sign up for the newsletter by creating an account using an email address and password, receive a confirmation email of your subscription and you’re off to SHOP! Be sure to indicate your location, so GILT can automatically find deals for social/physical/health experiences near you, as well as other location-dependent services.

Well, it’s definitely been fun spilling all the tea on fashion deals for now! I absolutely love these sites- they make shopping seamless and more wallet-friendly. I’ve never had an issue with a product purchased or with using a coupon provided for a beauty/health/physical activity and/or food-oriented experience. These are truly my gems and I hold them close to me because I have a responsibility to uphold them and cherish the beauties they’ve brought me.

With that said, I know bestow upon you all who have read this article the torch of fashion… the responsibility now rests with you all to create the best fashion statements and venture into the world with an incomparable load of confidence, sass and awesomeness. And on that note, Game of Thrones is over so I’ll quit while I’m ahead. lol

Cheers loves- see you next time!
